I have a Masters degree in Social Work from Wilfred Laurier University and two undergraduate degrees, one in social work and the other in women’s studies and sociology. I completed my early childhood education program at George Brown College in the early 1990’s. A believer in life-long learning, I am currently completing post-graduate training in couple and family therapy studies at the University of Guelph and have completed Sex Therapy Intensive training. I am in the process of working on certification as a registered Sex Therapist and Couple and Family Therapist.  I work with a clinical supervisor and engage in ongoing professional development with monthly peer consultation group meetings as well as attendance at various trainings and keep up to date with relevant journal articles and books.

I have been trained as a therapist and registered social worker for the past nine years and have been in private practice for the past 8 years. I bring a rich and varied work history that involves work with children, youth and their families for the past twenty years and with adults and couples for the past ten years in a variety of different capacities… ranging from hospital based programs, children’s mental health agencies, women’s reproductive health clinics, community health centres and private practice.

Throughout my years of private practice I have worked with adults (both individuals and couples) struggling with sexuality and intimacy issues, relationship hurdles, interpersonal trauma, sexual abuse, grief and loss, reproductive health concerns, HIV/AIDS, homophobia and transphobia, body image concerns, concerning sexual behaviour (for children under the age of 12 years) and work with children and youth who have been exposed to and experienced internet child exploitation. I provide assessments and treatment for adolescents who have sexually harmed and utilize a best practice approach in doing so. Psychometric questionnaires are a part of my comprehensive assessments and I work with other professionals who do this work.
